M R not ducks!
April 24, 2012No one ever gets my jokes. I don’t think I am unusually obscure with my references; maybe it’s my timing.
In this case it’s not a joke, it’s a weird little non-story or riddle that people liked to tell years ago, about ducks and other things. I first heard it from Aunt Cindy, and recalled it while identifying the flock of birds floating near Grandma Beanie’s dock. I have been watching the lovely black birds with the white beaks dive and float around and they have mesmerized me even more than the water alone usually does.
But M R not ducks! Grandpa John called them mudhens, and it turns out he was absolutely correct (he often was). They are more precisely called American Coots, and I love their EDBD feet (well, not so EDBD, but really, really, cool).

For reference, the joke that is not a joke and the story that is not a story is below, compliments of Hummie’s World. You may decide what it truly is.
Read this by saying some the letters out loud, not the sounds of the letters. (ie. say, ’em ‘ar)

Holy smokes! All these years I’ve been saying M R 2 ducks; M R not ducks with no clue as to what it was from. Of course, I still have no clue as to where it is from but I at least know I didn’t just make it up.
by Mathew January 24, 2018 at 9:35 amI have heard that from my Grandpa. He only knew the snakes one. But he said spiders instead. Same difference. I always like to say the farmers one last, it gets the best reactions.
